Student Housing
Kortrijk has approximately 18,000 students, 3,000 of whom are living in student housing, managed by 240 landlords.
In Kortrijk, you pay an average of 350 euro per month for a student room, including energy costs. Prices can vary depending on the facilities. For instance, if your room includes private sanitary facilities, you might pay a bit more. It’s best to start your search in April.
All student housing in Kortrijk must have a valid operating certificate. You can always request this from your landlord. Kotwest actively ensures that student housing complies with regulations. If we find that a room is not in order, we remove it from our webpage.
Once you decide to rent a room, it’s very important to carefully review the rental agreement. Kotwest provides a model rental agreement designed to protect students’ rights as much as possible. However, landlords are not obligated to use this model. Additionally, make a detailed inventory of the room and check the agreements regarding utility costs (e.g., are your energy costs included in the base rent?). This helps to avoid disputes later.
If you experience issues with your landlord or have disagreements about certain agreements, contact the housing service of your student services department. They can offer advice.
